A low, flat plate in baekja (백자), the Korean white porcelain, cut with four straight sides and a rim raised just enough to read as an edge. The corners are the design: the rim folds back on itself in a small stepped return, a Korean detail set into an otherwise plain square. Mujagi presses and finishes each one by hand at their workshop in Icheon, the ceramics town southeast of Seoul, which is why the large size runs three to four weeks between batches. It has been in the line since 2019.
Three sizes. Small is a true square, 90 × 90mm and 10mm deep, 70g, sized for a slice of cake, a few berries, or a pair of chopsticks laid across it. Medium is also square, 145 × 145mm, 171g, and takes a slice of toast flat with room beside it for jam. Large is a rectangle, 260 × 215mm and 632g, wide enough for a sandwich and a mug together, for fruit cut for the table, or to carry a pot and two cups as a tea tray. All three are thin in section and stack close.
The two finishes are a choice, not a grade. Matte is the plainer and more modern of the two. Gloss is a clear glaze with a faint blue-white cast, so it reads slightly cooler and brighter. Both are microwave and dishwasher safe; neither goes in the oven. The one practical difference is cutlery: stainless leaves grey marks on a matte surface that normal washing will not lift, so wood, brass, or silicone is the safer pairing there, and Mujagi notes that strongly coloured food can stain a matte glaze over time.
