Shipping & international

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We currently ship from Seoul to:

- North America: Canada, United States

How long will my order take to arrive?

Each piece is sourced from a partner studio in Korea, so we need 1-5 business days to confirm and prepare your order before it ships. Some made-to-order pieces take 5-10 business days; we always note this on the product page.

Once your order is on its way, Korea Post EMS takes 3-7 business days after dispatch, with full tracking.

These are carrier estimates. Customs, holidays, and weather can sometimes cause delays.

How much is shipping?

Every order ships via Korea Post EMS with full tracking included. Shipping is $25 flat.

Orders of $150 or more ship free.

Will I have to pay customs or import taxes?

No. Everything is handled upfront.

Every Soodam order ships DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), which means all applicable import taxes, customs duties, and VAT are already built into the product price. At checkout you'll only see two things: your items and the shipping fee — nothing else gets added on, and nothing more is owed when your parcel arrives. No invoices on the doorstep, no brokerage fees, no surprises.

Why we do this: customs charges on international orders can be confusing, especially when they show up unexpectedly. Bundling everything into the product price means your parcel arrives at your door, no questions asked.

Please note that the duties and taxes built into your product price are non-refundable on returns.

How can I track my order?

As soon as your order ships from Seoul, you'll receive an email with your order tracking number and link. If you don't see it within 2 business days of your order shipping, please check your spam folder or email contact@shopsoodam.com with your order number.

What if my package is lost or damaged in transit?

If Korea Post EMS tracking shows no movement for 10+ business days, your parcel arrives damaged, or it's marked delivered but you haven't received it, please email contact@shopsoodam.com within 14 days of the issue with your order number.

For damaged parcels, please also include photos of the outer packaging and the item(s), and hold on to the original packaging until the claim is resolved — Korea Post EMS may request an inspection.

We'll open a claim with Korea Post EMS right away. Once it's approved, we'll send a replacement or issue a full refund — your choice. We'll keep you posted at every step, so you're never left wondering where things stand.

Orders

Can I cancel or change my order?

Because we forward orders to our partners in Korea within 24 hours, the cancellation window is short:

  • Within 1 hour of ordering: free cancellation, full refund. No problem.
  • After 1 hour: we'll do our best, but it depends on whether the maker has already started preparing your piece. We'll always try, but can't guarantee.
  • After it's shipped: we'll have to treat it as a return once it arrives.

To cancel or change something email contact@shopsoodam.com with your order number and "Cancel" or "Change" in the subject line. The sooner we hear, the better the chances.

I entered the wrong shipping address. What do I do?

Email contact@shopsoodam.com right away with your order number; the sooner the better.

Before dispatch — we'll fix it for free.
After dispatch — we can sometimes request an in-transit address correction through Korea Post EMS. A small carrier fee applies; let us know and we'll check options.

Please note: if a parcel is successfully delivered to the address you entered, we're unable to refund or replace it. We recommend double-checking your shipping address before placing your order.

Returns & exchanges

What's your return policy?

You can return most items within 14 calendar days of delivery for a refund, even if you've simply changed your mind. To qualify:

    What if my item arrived damaged or defective?

    That's on us. We cover everything: replacement, or a full refund (your choice).

    Please email contact@shopsoodam.com within 7 days of delivery with:

    • Your order number
    • Clear photos of the item and packaging
    • A description of what's wrong

    We'll respond within 2 business days. In many cases, we can simply send a replacement without asking you to ship anything back.

    Can I exchange an item?

    We don't run direct exchanges, because most pieces are limited at our partner studios; they may not be in stock by the time we receive your return. The fastest way is to:

    • Return the original item for a refund.
    • Place a new order for what you actually want.
    Are there items I can't return?

    For hygiene and customization reasons, the following are final sale (your statutory rights for faulty items are unaffected):

    • Loofahs, bath sponges, and other personal care items for hygiene reasons
    • Candles, fragrance, or skincare once opened or seal broken (if applicable)
    • Custom, made-to-order, personalized, or engraved items
    • Final sale / archive items (clearly marked at purchase)
    • Gift cards
    How long do refunds take?

    Once your return reaches us in Seoul, we inspect it within 3-5 business days and email you the outcome. Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method right away — funds typically appear in your account within 5-10 business days, depending on your bank.

    Note: returns received outside the 14-day window, without an RA, or not in resellable condition are not eligible for a refund.

    About Soodam

    What is Soodam?

    Soodam (수담, soo-dahm) is an editorial shop carrying considered goods from Seoul. Some are made by hand in small studios. Others come from contemporary Korean design brands. A few are everyday objects that happen to be unusually well-made. What they share: someone in Seoul put them into the world with intent, and someone at Soodam thought they were worth bringing across.

    Where do your products come from?

    Every piece in our shop is sourced from independent makers, design brands, and studios based in Seoul and elsewhere in South Korea. We work with a small, evolving roster of partners we trust, and visit their studios when we can.

    How do I get in touch?

    The easiest way is to email contact@shopsoodam.com. We answer within 2 business days (Mon–Fri, KST). For anything order-related, please include your order number; it makes things much faster on our end. If you haven't heard from us within 2 business days, please check your spam folder before reaching out again.
