The bokdanji (복단지) is a small fortune jar. In Korean homes it sits near the front door, often holding coarse salt — which is long believed to drive off bad energy, so a jar of it at the entrance is meant to keep misfortune from crossing the threshold. These come from PETPLANT, a plant-and-home shop in Seoul.

Each jar is white porcelain, about the size of a fist, with a domed lid and a tasseled cord knotted at the shoulder. The set runs three ways: one painted with red persimmons, one with a blue-green mountain landscape, and one left plain white. The lid seats firmly enough that it doesn't rattle when you lift the jar.

Each jar measures 8cm across and 8cm tall — small enough for a shelf, a shoe cabinet, or a windowsill, including the spot by the door it's traditionally meant for. Just as good for salt or sugar in the kitchen, loose tea, or a single tealight.

As with any glazed ceramic, the surface may carry slight glaze pooling or a little variation in thickness from jar to jar — part of how they're finished, not a flaw.

Wipe clean with a dry, soft cloth. Skip abrasive scrubbers; the painted surface and glaze are delicate.

Things people ask

Will I have to pay customs or import taxes?

No. Every order ships DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) — all customs duties and import taxes are built into the product price, so your parcel arrives with nothing more to pay.

How long until it arrives?

We need 1 to 5 business days to confirm with the studio and prepare your order. Korea Post EMS is 3 to 7 business days in transit. Made-to-order pieces take 5 to 10 business days to prepare; we note this on the product page.

What's your return policy?

Returns accepted within 14 days of delivery, in original condition. Email contact@shopsoodam.com for a return authorization first. Buyer covers return shipping for change-of-mind; customs duties and the $25 shipping fee (on orders under $150) are non-refundable.

What if it arrives damaged?

That's on us. Email contact@shopsoodam.com within 7 days with your order number and photos of the item and packaging. We'll send a replacement or a full refund, your choice.

Can I cancel or change my order?

Within 1 hour of ordering, yes. After that we'll try, but we forward orders to studios in Korea within 24 hours, so it depends on whether preparation has started. Email contact@shopsoodam.com right away.

How does store credit work?

Every order earns 5% of the subtotal back as store credit, added to your account once your order ships. It applies automatically at checkout and stays valid for 6 months.
