A spoon and a pair of chopsticks each, for two people, in stainless steel under a matte black finish. The colour is not paint. It is a titanium surface treatment bonded to the steel in the workshop of a metalworker certified as a national master of surface finishing, which is why the black reads as a depth in the metal rather than a layer sitting on it. Each piece is drawn as one continuous line, with no seam where the spoon's handle meets its bowl and no joint at the chopstick shoulder.
Horang counts the work in steps: 30 for the spoon, 25 for the chopsticks, 55 in all, at the bench of a craftsman with forty years behind him. The spoon is 210mm and 70g, deep-bowled and sized for rice and for broth. The chopsticks are 222mm and 32g each, flat-sided, tapering to a squared tip. Because the finishing is done by hand, tips and edges vary slightly from piece to piece.
A spoon and chopsticks together make the standard Korean place setting, sujeo (수저): rice and soup taken with the spoon, everything else with the chopsticks. This is the set for two, four pieces in all. It is heavier cutlery than most, deliberately so, and worth knowing before it arrives. The titanium finish resists scratching but is not immune to it, so wash by hand with a soft sponge, never a scouring pad or steel wool, and keep it out of the dishwasher, whose heat lifts the finish over time.

- Hand wash only. The dishwasher's heat lifts the titanium finish over time. Use mild dish soap and a soft sponge, then dry with a cloth so standing water does not spot the surface. Never use a scouring pad, steel wool or an abrasive cleaner, and avoid multi-purpose cleaners with acids or metal-ion agents, which strip finished metal. Not for cooking or direct heat. Wash before first use.

We need 1 to 5 business days to confirm with the studio and prepare your order. Korea Post EMS is 3 to 7 business days in transit. Made-to-order pieces take 5 to 10 business days to prepare; we note this on the product page.
What's your return policy?
Returns accepted within 14 days of delivery, in original condition. Email contact@shopsoodam.com for a return authorization first. Buyer covers return shipping for change-of-mind; customs duties and the $25 shipping fee (on orders under $150) are non-refundable.
What if it arrives damaged?
That's on us. Email contact@shopsoodam.com within 7 days with your order number and photos of the item and packaging. We'll send a replacement or a full refund, your choice.
Can I cancel or change my order?
Within 1 hour of ordering, yes. After that we'll try, but we forward orders to studios in Korea within 24 hours, so it depends on whether preparation has started. Email contact@shopsoodam.com right away.
