Three pollacks cut from large-check gingham cotton, one pink, one red and one blue against white, each with a single black bead for an eye. Every fish carries its own hank of ivory silk thread, twisted into a thick cord, wrapped once around the body and running up to a white ring clasp. The fabric is cut from checked yardage, so the squares meet the seam differently on every fish and no two in the set are laid out the same way.
The dried pollack bound in silk thread and hung by the door, aengmagi myeongtae (액막이 명태), is still a standard gift at a Korean housewarming or a shop opening: the fish keeps bad luck outside. Each one is soft and light, 15.5cm nose to tail and about 19cm counting the loop, so it hangs from a door handle, a hook, a shelf edge or a bag strap. Cotton throughout, so they wash: cold water, on their own.
Sold singly as well, in one colourway at a time. The same fish also comes in two floral prints, Roa and Blair.

Will I have to pay customs or import taxes?
No. Every order ships DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) — all customs duties and import taxes are built into the product price, so your parcel arrives with nothing more to pay.
How long until it arrives?
We need 1 to 5 business days to confirm with the studio and prepare your order. Korea Post EMS is 3 to 7 business days in transit. Made-to-order pieces take 5 to 10 business days to prepare; we note this on the product page.
What's your return policy?
Returns accepted within 14 days of delivery, in original condition. Email contact@shopsoodam.com for a return authorization first. Buyer covers return shipping for change-of-mind; customs duties and the $25 shipping fee (on orders under $150) are non-refundable.
What if it arrives damaged?
That's on us. Email contact@shopsoodam.com within 7 days with your order number and photos of the item and packaging. We'll send a replacement or a full refund, your choice.
Can I cancel or change my order?
Within 1 hour of ordering, yes. After that we'll try, but we forward orders to studios in Korea within 24 hours, so it depends on whether preparation has started. Email contact@shopsoodam.com right away.
How does store credit work?
Every order earns 5% of the subtotal back as store credit, added to your account once your order ships. It applies automatically at checkout and stays valid for 6 months.
