Youngly Youngley is a two-person studio in Changdong, Seoul, formed in 2013 by Yeji Kim and Eunjin Shin — who met making their graduation collection and needed a name for the duo. The name plays on the Korean word yeongni, meaning clever or sharp, doubled — two people, the same word twice, standing side by side to make one voice (and reading, in English, as 'young-ly'). They work from the vocabulary of classic and vintage ornament — toile de Jouy textiles, carved cameos, the earrings a child sneaks from her mother's jewelry box. Each reference gets pulled out of the antique case and rewritten in their own palette, with a small twist of texture, until it reads as something you would wear with jeans. The Foi ring, their structural signature, is the piece most people know them by.
