APTONE started in Seongsu, Seoul, in 2021, out of more than twenty years spent doing visual merchandising and store fabrication for beauty brands including Innisfree, L'Oreal Paris and Givenchy. That background left the studio with a working shop floor and a particular interest in acrylic: what it does with light, and what color does when it sits inside the material instead of on top of it.
Most acrylic goods are injection-molded at volume. APTONE's are cut and assembled by hand in its own Seongsu workshop, using bent forms and rivets in place of the adhesive that usually holds acrylic together, and panels tinted to colors the in-house team mixes rather than ordering ready-made. The catalog runs from furniture, mirrors and lighting down to small objects for the table and desk.
