Lug Lug럭럭

Seoul

Lug Lug is a Seoul rug brand built on a plain observation about how Koreans live: the floor is where people sit, lie down, gather, and spend time alone, so a rug isn't decoration laid over a room. It's the ground the room happens on. The brand works across floor rugs, door mats and larger room pieces, under a single line it repeats everywhere: lucky rug, your new ground.

It comes out of Yarn Carpet, a Seoul tufting company that has spent more than twenty years on the technique, and the making is half machine and half hand. Lug Lug was the first in Korea to bring in the European tufting robots it weaves on, which is what holds the pile even across a whole piece. Everything after that is manual: the backs are hand-coated and dried for eight hours so the yarn stays put, the surface is shaved level and then trimmed with scissors, and the underside is finished in woven cotton folded and set by hand. Pieces are made to order rather than held in stock.
